Pua La`a, born of Hawaii; expresses her spirit and creativity thru dance. She was inspired as a child by the beauty of nature, grace of spirit, fluidity of ocean waves and gentle swaying trees and the way it is honored in hula. PuaLa`a began formal training in 1984, in NYC. Studying intensively for eight years with 9th generation Peking Opera Master, Tung Nyan Hung. Honored, she received his lineage knowledge. Trained in the role of the WuDan (female warrior); specializing in martial arts, acrobatics, dance and weaponry. Simultaneously she studied aerial, ballet and Chinese dances, taichi, wushu, and yoga. From 1984-1992, PuaLa`a performed extensively in NY, NJ, CT. She performed 'Ballet Aerien ~Elastiques', on bungee cords, 1992 Winter Olympic Opening Ceremonies in Albertville, France. At home on Kauai, PuaLa`a continues training in Ashtanga Yoga, Hula, Tahitian, Middle Eastern, and fire dancing. A professional performer and master choreographer in her unique repertoire; PuaLa`a currently dances with Luau Kalamaku and Kalalea Fire.
